1. Class Registration

Instructions for joining class in person or online via Zoom, along with all applicable PowerPoint presentations and handouts, are emailed to you four days prior to your class(es) and again one day prior as a reminder. The Ferentz Institute workshops are conducted either live, online via Zoom, or in-person at the Hilton Garden Inn, Owings Mills, MD. Please email Gerri Baum at gerrib@theferentzinstitute.com if you have any questions. We do not offer recorded versions of our online trainings. Our online classes must be live, interactive, and held in real-time, as required by the Maryland Board of Social Work, so that participants may receive the essential Category 1 CEUs that we provide. All trainings can be used for CEUs by Social Workers, LCPCs, MFTs and Psychologists.

Registration for each workshop closes one day before the workshop date.
If you want to sign up for a course and missed the registration deadline, please don’t worry. You can still contact Gerri Baum at gerrib@theferentzinstitute.com or call 410-409-7061 to inquire about joining the class. We will do our best to accommodate you. We appreciate your interest in our workshops and look forward to seeing you soon!

2. Class Location

All in-person classes are held at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 4770 Owings Mills Blvd. Owings Mills, MD 21117. If you're visiting from out of town and need to stay overnight, we recommend the Hilton. Use Corporate ID 3217291 to get our corporate rate when booking.

3. CEUs

Social workers (LGSW, LCSW, LCSW-C), MFTs, LGCPs and LCPCs, and Psychologists are eligible to receive CEUs for ALL workshops and both Certificate Programs. Art therapists and other mental health professionals are welcome to attend but need to confirm that their Professional Boards have reciprocal relationships with: the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, the State Board of Licensed Counselors and Therapists, or the Board of Psychologists in Maryland to get CEUs.

The Ferentz Institute can provide CEUs for clinicians in Maryland, Washington DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Georgia, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, and Texas. Clinicians in other states should confirm that their State Board has reciprocal relationships with either: the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, the State Board of Licensed Counselors and Therapists in Maryland, or the Board of Examiners of Psychologists in Maryland to receive CEUs.

Clinicians in Maryland and states offering reciprocity can receive CEUs for any of our ethics classes, fulfilling the ethics requirements of all Professional Boards.

Any class listed as a diversity class meets the requirements from ALL Professional Boards.

4. Payment

We do not take payments by check for individual workshops. We do accept payments by check if you are registering a group of individuals from your agency for either the Level I or Level II Certificate in Advanced Trauma Training Program.

Although we do not offer refunds if you miss a workshop you’ve paid for, you can use your payment towards any future training at the Institute. Contact Lisa either before or after the missed class so she is aware that you will be registering for a future class.

5. Online Trainings

We offer a hybrid of learning experiences both online and in-person. Our online classes are held live via Zoom, while in-person classes are held at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Owings Mills, Maryland. We do not offer recorded versions of our online trainings at this time with the exception of our Level I Trauma Training program.  Online classes must be live, interactive, and held in real-time, as required by the Maryland Board of Social Work, so that participants may receive the essential Category 1 CEUs that we provide.

6. Level I and Level II Programs

Clinicians may not take individual Level I and/or Level II trainings without signing up for the entire program. Both programs are 54 hours and meant to be taken in their entirety. The trainings are also designed to foster an intimate, trusting context; therefore, they are closed to outside participants once registration is complete and the first class begins.

When Level I is conducted online, you can make-up a missed class by viewing the related class recording and passing an associated quiz to earn category 2 CEUs for that session. If you miss a Level I in-person class, you can make it up during the following semester.

For Level II, if you miss a class, you can either make it up when it is offered again during the following spring semester or take an approved, comparable class on expressive modalities within the same semester to graduate with your cohort.

In order to receive the final certificate for both Level I and Level II, participants must attend all nine classes.

7. Cancellation

Although rare, a workshop may be canceled due to low registration, a presenter emergency, or inclement weather. In such instances, participants will be promptly notified, usually one week before the scheduled class. If payment has been made for the training, participants will have the choice of receiving a full refund or applying the payment to another class. Additionally, all participants will receive a $25.00 discount on a future training session as compensation for any inconvenience caused.

8. Semester System

There are two “semesters” at the Institute: March-June and September-December. The Institute goes on hiatus in January, February, July, and August.
